"Experimental" NYC 4-8-4 #800 - New York Central
Title:  "Experimental" NYC 4-8-4 #800 - New York Central
Description:  New York Central 4-8-4 #800 was an experimental, three-cylinder, high-pressure steam locomotive built by the ALCO-Schenectady in 1931 as part of an unsuccessful attempt to advance steam locomotive technology. This #800 was unique for its time, utilizing a high-pressure boiler in a three-section design to improve efficiency, but it ultimately failed and was written off. I could not find much more info about this loco including its serial # or its final disposition date. If you have info on this loco, please leave a comment below so I can improve the listing. This is an ALCo-Schenectady photo.
