With everything quiet, it was time to bid Rochelle goodbye and continue my journey westward. I wanted to take a quick glance at the west end of Global 3 to see if I could spot one of the pulldown jobs working. When I arrived, there was no pulldown working to my east, but there was a headlight to my west. Bingo! I quick pulled over and nabbed my first moving train of the day, UP MMTPR, slowly pulling into G3 with a nice consist of mostly EMD motors passing the large grain elevator in nearby Flagg. Along with the train, I also met another railfan up here who was also from the Fort Wayne area. What a coincidence! We had a nice chat before I continued on my way.

Miraculous timing and extreme coincidence were involved in this one. No radios, emails or anything; just pure luck.

There is something cool about catching a loco with triple or quad numbers on its running boards! Such was the case today thanks to a heads up from a friend. Is this UP a quad 4 or a 4X4? Cool catch anyway.
