Description:  One of the youngest diesel locomotives preserved in a museum, number 3563 was donated here by Norfolk Southern a few years back. While most would consider this a front end view of the locomotive, in true N&W style, this unit is actually set up that the long hood end is designated forward.

Even at the late date when this locomotive was constructed, NS was still ordering new units set up for long hood forward operation, despite having a low short hood with better visibility. This was a practice carried over from predecessor Norfolk & Western Railway.
