Description:  This loco was built by Alco in March of 1953 and was a true boomer loco that bounced from one roster to another. After the collapse of CNJ, it wound up on the Conrail roster originally as CR Alco RS3 #5378. It was rebuilt and renumbered CR Alco RS3M #9937. From there it went to WJRR #91>SRNJ #1548>NJ #1548. Description:  Here is a photo taken by Mr. D.O. Jones. It was published originally in the February 1979 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 42-43. Partial Caption: "In times past, diesels then commomplace but now revered in memory did the honors on the Long Branch. In June 1960 at Red Bank, we see . . . Pennsy BP-20-class passenger Shark 5779 on a race special for Monmouth Park." #5779 is a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in May of 1965.
