Here is the first Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) 4-6-2 built for the Frisco in March of 1904, a month after the very first Pacific delivered by Alco Brooks to the railroad. Specs - serial #23744, class 1010, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, engine weight of 191,000 lb, tractive effort of 25,623 lb. The photo is from the Harold K. Here is another proud Frisco 2-8-0 Consolidation sitting in the scrap line in the Monett, MO yard. Built by Baldwin in December of 1906 (serial #29731), SLSF #980 lasted for nearly 42 years before meeting the scrapper's torch in May of 1948. One of three specially painted 1943 Baldwin built Northerns used to head up the Frisco's premier train, The Meteor, daily between Oklahoma City and St Louis. The three locos were even given a special paint scheme - a distinctive zephyr blue, white and gray paint scheme with "Meteor" spelled out across the tender in bold red lettering. Later these three also served the Texas Special. Specifics - - oil fired, 74" drivers, 255 psi boiler pressure, 28x31" cylinders, engine weight of 462,500 lbs, tractive effort of 71,188 lb.
