A really really early view of one of the dozen ore Docks that once stood in Marquette, I believe this one is the Iron Mountain Railways. This photo was definetly before 1900
My guess is this was taken in Newberry or Baraga, the Soo Line went from the Soo Sault Marie'Michigan straight across to Marquette, then over to Superior Wisconsin.

It took two trips to South Lyon on consecutive days just to get any train to show up. All I got was two engines. I don't know anything about the gray one.
