It was designed to tow passenger trains on the line from Barcelona to Molins de Rei and Martorell , which would later be absorbed by the companies from Tarragona to Barcelona and Francia (TBF) in 1875 and Madrid to Zaragoza and Alicante (MZA) in 1891.
