DR 2-6-0 #9 - Dardanelle & Russellville
Title:  DR 2-6-0 #9 - Dardanelle & Russellville
Description:  Nice action shot of Dardanelle & Russellville 2-6-0 Mogul #9 in action at the Mid-Continent Rwy. Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) built this 2-6-0 Mogul steam locomotive in 1884 for the New Orleans & North Eastern Rwy as their #232. NO&NE sold the loco in 1917 to a surplus equipment dealer, which in turn resold her to the Dardanelle & Russellville. The locomotive, renumbered #9, served the Arkansas line until 1963, when Mid-Continent bought her with the help of a major donation from Elliot Donelly. Unfortunately no date or rail fan photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my collection.

Title:  DR 2-6-0 #9 - Dardanelle & Russellville
Description:  This great looking 2-6-0 Mogul was a star for many years at the Mid-Continent Ray while pulling the tourist trains. When the museum purchased the loco, it had a steel pilot that was installed when the Missouri Pacific rebuilt the loco in the 1950's after it had an accident while serving the Dardanelle & Russellville Rwy. After arrival at North Freedom, museum crews replaced the pilot with an older wooden pilot. Unfortunately no date or rail fan photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my collection. The date is approximate.

Description:  Sadly, the loco was sidelined in the late 1970s due to a leaking tender. She was returned briefly to service in 1991 for one summer with a temporary tender, but is again waiting her turn in the shops, this time requiring boiler work and a new tender. She still in waiting in 2025 for that rebuild. Unfortunately no date or rail fan photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my collection. The date is approximate.
