Originally built as NYC&HR 2-8-0 #2428 in May of 1913 by Alco-Schenectady, it moved over to the Rutland roster as their #28 in 1914. In January of 1939, it was "semi-streamlined" for the "Whippet" from Bellows Falls to Norwood, NY but early in WW II, the semi-streamling was removed and donated to the war effort as scrap. The loco was retired in August of 1951 after nearly 38 years of service.
