Nice shot of Erie 4-6-2 Pacific #2943 but it's definitely showing some wear now as it sat in the Marion, OH yard. History - Baldwin, 5/1923 Specs - serial #56536, class K-5A, 79" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 75x28" cylinders, engine weight of 323,000 lb, tractive effort of 46,121 lb. Retired and sold for scrap in September of 1951 This is a J.R. Quinn photo which is now in my rr collection.

Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Al Withiam that was taken in Marion, Ohio, on 4 January 1952. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #778, an H-6SB (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1906 and rebuilt in Juniata as an H-6SB in January of 1917.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6432, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata in September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of service. Note the six 90-degree "diamonds"!

Marion didn't change much in the next 10 years because this look is among my earliest memories of it.

Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9838 is an EFP-15 constructed in April of 1952.
