Old Pueblo Trolley #10 (PE Trolley #332) |
| Description: |
PE trolley #10 was originally built as a Birney style trolley Pacific Electric #332 by the J.G. Brill Company in 1918. Pacific Electric 332 spent most of its career in Redlands, until rail operations were replaced by buses in 1936. The car was later assigned to the local lines in Pasadena and retired in 1941 when the local lines were replaced bus service. Fortunately, MGM Studios bought four of them where they starred in such movies as “Singin’ in the Rain”. Cars 331 and 332 were purchased the the Orange Empire Trolley Museum from MGM in the 1960’s and brought to the museum in Perris, California. Car 332 was leased to the Old Pueblo Trolley in Tucson, Arizona in 1985. 332 was restored to full operation by the OPT staff and operated for the first time in 1991. During the restoration, 332 was painted into the former Tucson Rapid Transit cream and green paint scheme and renumbered car 10 to reflect one of the Birneys that ran in the 1920’s in Tucson. |

PE Business Car #1299 - Pacific Electric |
| Description: |
The Pacific Electric (PE) #1299, a historic "Big Red Car" deluxe business car, is a key part of the collection at the Southern California Railway Museum (formerly the Orange Empire Railway Museum) in Perris, California. Originally built in 1912 by Pullman as a passenger trailer for the Southern Pacific's "Red Electric" lines in Oregon, the car was sold to Pacific Electric in 1928. In 1929, it underwent a $21,000 conversion at PE's Torrance workshops into an executive business car. The car was outfitted with observation lounges featuring large windows, a kitchen, a toilet, and traction motors. It served as the primary business car for PE executives and was used for official inspection tours. It is often cited as the last official car retained by Pacific Electric before being sold into private preservation in 1958. |

TT Boxcar #111 - Tonopah & Tidewater RR |
| Description: |
Another close up of the brake wheel end of the wooden boxcar built in 1885. This is a rare, 19th-century wooden boxcar that was reportedly used during the original construction of the T&T Railroad. The Tonopah & Tidewater was incorporated in 1904 to provide a more efficient alternative to the 20-mule teams hauling borax out of Death Valley. It connected Ludlow, California (on the Santa Fe main line) with Beatty, Nevada. Despite its name, the railroad never actually reached Tonopah or the "Tidewater" (San Diego). The line ceased operations in 1940 and was dismantled during World War II to provide scrap metal for the war effort. |

PE Trolley #717 - Pacific Electric |
| Description: |
Pacific Electric’s famed 600 class “Hollywood” cars (600-759) were the most common and popular cars on the PE system. Pacific Electric (PE) Trolley #717 is an authentic 1925 "Hollywood" car built by J.G. Brill Co. for the Pacific Electric Railway. After decades of service in Southern California, it was retired in 1959, acquired by the Orange Empire Railway Museum (now Southern California Railway Museum), and restored to running condition, where it remains in operation. It underwent major mechanical repairs and a full restoration in the late 1990s, often appearing in its 1920s red paint scheme with orange "butterfly wing" stripes. One unusual note - the number 717 also refers to the opening date of Disneyland: July 17, 1955, a significant date in Los Angeles! |
