Here is a fair quality older original photo of Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-2 Pacific type #5237 (serial #55881, class P-6) built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in December of 1922. During the 1920's, it was rebuilt including the installaion of a Walschaert valve gear and a reclassification to P-6a. The loco was retired in 1957 and presumedly scrapped. Rebuilt specs - 74" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 288,600 lb and tractive force of 40,200 lb. Theodore Bullockus took this photo which is now in my rr collection. |

Here is a great looking roster shot of Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-2 Pacific type steam loco #5235 (serial #55879, class P-6). It was built by Baldwin in December of 1922. In the 1920's, it was later rebuilt with an added Walschaert vavle gear installation to improve efficiency and reclassified as P-6a. After serving the B&O for nearly 29 years, the locomotive was retired in 1951 and scrapped in June of that year. Rebuilt specs - 74" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 288,600 lb and tractive force of 40,200 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo so approximates were used for posting. |

After a rebuild that included the installation of a Walschaert valve gear in the 1920's. the loco was reclassified as P-6a. After serving for nearly 34 years, the loco was retired in 1956 and presumedly scrapped. Original specs - 74" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 288,600 lb and tractive force of 40,200 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo so approximates were used for posting. |
