Good looking roster shot was taken by an unidentified rail fan while it was in the south Indianapolis yard. It was originally built by EMD in July of 1980 as BN #7229 but landed on the Indiana Railroad roster with a new paint scheme and a new number INRD #44. Later it would be renumbered INRD 4004. |

Indiana Rail Road (INRD) SD40-2 #41 is a veteran freight locomotive that has undergone several renumberings and owner changes throughout its career. Originally built for the Burlington Northern (BN) by EMD in July of 1980, it eventually became a key part of the INRD fleet before being renumbered to fit their current system. Nee-BN 8178 > HLCX 8178 > INRD 41 > INRD 4001. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now part of my rr collection. |
