all dressed up for the NMRA Convention that was held in Boston that year
Nice assortment of locomotives at Braintree, Massachusetts for the NMRA convention in Boston. There's Central Vermont, Green Mountain, Conrail, Providence and Worcester, and Clarendon and Pittsford represented here. Guilford was on strike, so no locomotives were sent in fear they'd be vandalized!

Before Radios, you needed to call the dispatcher by phone! Once a common sight along the Boston & Maine Railroad
American Steel and Wire of Worcester, Massachusetts --- Bo 18 is a 3-foot gauge saddle tanker manufactured by Vulcan in 1917. Seen in the old New Haven freight yard at Attleboro, Massachusetts. This train with its 2 Conrail SD40-2's and Amtrak caboose would ply the Amtrak mainline nightly laying fiber optic cables into Boston. A few weeks later it would be stored on the Providence and Worcester Railroad at Valley Falls.

Mass Central 960, working the Palmer yard this Sunday morning
Seen at East Deefield yards. With no visible glass, the plow seems abandoned here. Designed for plowing double track, the plow sends snow only to one side
I've got no wheels! SW1 seen at Westfield yards minus its trucks. Number 30 is sitting on the fuel tank and steps with no place to go. Built for the Boston & Maine in 1951 and sometimes in 2005 was loaded on a flat car for movement off line
Found this pile of old wheels at State Line Scrap, now Schnitzer Scrap - a Providence and Worcester customer. Could be Amtrak wheels as there are some wheels that might of been on AEM-7's
Old retaining wall for the Grand Trunk Railroad that was to run from the port at Providence, Rhode Island to Palmer, Massachutetts. Much of the work was done with grades, bridges and retaining walls, but the railroad was never finished once the pricipal promoter died in the Titanic mishap. There's many relics left from the Grand Trunk in the Rhode Island, Massachusetts area.
