PRR 2022, BF-16, 1964
Description:
7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 8 March 1964. Partially visible at the left is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2022, a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1952, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in January of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. Partially visible at the right are PRR engines #7070 and #9766-B; they've stopped and await orders to pull a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.
