The Phase 1 Heritage 156, on its 1st long distance run since being released from Beech Grove on 3-16-2011, backs up towards the Amtrak Rensselaer maintenance facility with the lead 2 coaches off the Lake Shore Limited-P04818. Trail units are P42DC 169 and 140. This was the Lake Shore power from Chicago to Albany. The end of the NYC section, powered by a single dual mode GE added at Albany, sits in the foreground. The Boston section of 48 (448) was cancelled again on 3-18-2011 due to a washout on the Post Road Branch which connects the station to the CSX line from Selkirk to Boston. Viewliners 62040 and 62004 are in the foreground. A third Viewliner, 62047, and Diner 8559 are out of view in the foreground. Time is 15:43. Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak Station

On the first day of Spring, Amtrak Phase 1 Heritage 156 leads the SB Adirondack, with 5 amfleets. down the Saratoga Controlled Siding as it approaches its station stop at Saratoga. This location is the former D&H XN Cabin. I believe this is the engines 6th assignment since being released from Beech Grove on March 16, 2011. The last three have been 48, 69, and now 68. Canadian Pacific, Canadian Subdivision, CPC 37.
Amtrak 822 is on the head end of the 40th Anniversart train with the 406 during its display at the Springfield Amtrak Station.
The Boston Section of the EB Lake Shore arrives at Albany-Rensselaer with the Phase II Heritage unit. When 48 arrives at Albany the power and Boston cars cutoff the NY section just west of the overpass in the background and enter the platform area as 2 separate trains. On this day the trip for 448 would be very short as buses were running from Albany to Boston due to trackwork. So for yet another time this Summer, 448 would head for the storage yard after unloading its passengers. Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak Station.
The WB Lake Shore prepares to depart Albany-Rensselaer at 7:05PM with the Phase II Heritage unit leading the way back to Chicago. Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak Station.

Dark clouds dominate the sky on a rainy Labor Day in Upstate NY, as the Amtrak 40th Anniversary Train, running as CP 01A-05, rolls NB on the Canadian Pacific Freight Subdivision, Gage Rd., MP 500.74 with ALL THREE Phase III Heritage locomotives. The roundtrip from Albany to Scranton represents the first time these 3 units have been paired up. This location is a few miles from the big washout caused by Hurricane Irene that forced this train to detour over NYSW on 9-2.
