A "catch-all" album for photos that don't fit into previously created albums, or are too few to warrant creation of their own.
At the request of the Czarist Russian government, ALCO built around a thousand of these light weight Decapods during WWI. Around 800 had been delivered before the Bolshevik revolution when deliveries ceased, leaving 200+ engines in the US. The USRA took them and distributed them to various railroads. Six examples still survive today, with Frisco 1630 at IRM being the "live one".
The exact date of this photo is unknown, however, that IS a 1935 Ford Phaeton sitting there, and the double track STILL extends west of the station. The line west of here was single-tracked about 1940, so it's got to be sometime between 1935 and 1940. We are looking west on the New Haven's Highland division between Willimantic and Waterbury.
NH I-4 Pacific pauses at Plainville with a westbound passenger train, probably sometime just prior to WW2. Exact date unavailable. The single track crossing at grade is the old New Haven & Northampton, aka the "Canal Line". Except for about 1 mile north and a couple miles south of here, the Canal is all but extinct.
Builder's photo of 2 of the New Haven's 10 CPA24-5's. The NH also got the two demonstrators, which became NH 790 and 791.
Cropped aand enlarged half of the builder's photo of NH 797 and 796. Since the New Haven was the only origional owner of FL-9's, it was the also the ONLY railroad to own both 5 axle locomotive models.
Builder's photo of one of the New York Central's 8 CPA24-5's. Date is only approximate.

GO Transit GP40TC with a string of those weird Hawker-Siddeley cars.
The cars at left have inside bearing trucks with outside brake rotors.
GO Transit 902 is one of 5 former Ontario Northland units converted to power/cab control cars.
GO Transit commuter train departing Toronto Union Station.
Obviously, long distance passenger train arriving at Toronto........or is it the "Silver Streak?"
Toronto's Union station as viewed from the lofty heights of the CN Tower. Note the yellow nose of a UAC/VIA TurboTrain sticking out from the shed at left.
CP's roundhouse as seen from the "Sky Pod" observation deck on the CN Tower, 1,4J5 ft. above the ground. The 360 restaurant of the tower is seen intruding into the lower portion of the picture, 300 ft. below the "Sky Pod".
CN roundhouse and storage yards as seen from the CN Tower. CN 6060, "Bullet-nose Betty", pokes her nose out of the left interior side of the roundhouse as a passenger train with an A-B-A set of F's arrives at right. Present site of the Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jayz.
Following her restoration in 1972-73, CN 6060 ran in regularly scheduled service for a couple of years out of Toronto. Round trips to Niagara Falls were run on weekends during the summer. "Bullet-nose Betty" is seen here at Niagara Falls station after arrival from Toronto.

While the "touristas and daaisy pickers" went to the Falls, the 6060 took her train, and all the railfan passengers out to Yager Junction to turn the train for the return trip to Toronto. A couple of photo run-bys were part of the program as seen here.

Departing Yager Junction after turning the train, and headed back to the Falls.
Turned around and ready for the return trip to Toronto. 6060 "showed her stuff" on the return trip to Toronto, running near track speed on CN's Class IV main. Fastest ride I EVER had behind steam!

Local returning to E. Htfd. yard on the Armory branch. Taken from the front porch of the last house we lived in. Date approximate, I'm going by the processing date stamp on the slide, but it may be considerably earlier than that.
Local climbing the grade out of East Hartford on the Manchester branch, ex HP&F. Another approximate date. Since the markings are PC, I'll assign that to the engine, even though it may be EARLY CR.
Still working that grade, taken from Tolland St., which parallels the tracks. LOVE that WABASH box!
Cresting the grade at William's crossing on Tolland St. just inside the Manchester town line. Don't remember, but the "bastard Alco" with half an E unit's power must have been straining it's heart out with the string it had.
The old goat will have it a lot easier from here to Manchester station. "Herbie" left his mark on that WABASH box.
