Hoosier rail fan Dick Berry took these b&w photos of Chicago, West Pullman & Southern SW1 #39, SW8 #46 & SW9 #47 in 1981.
EMD built this SW8 switcher in November of 1952 for the Chicago, West Pullman & Southern as their #46. It was still kicking as late as 1988 but by 1996, CWP became a Chicago Rail Link (CRL) with the loco relettered CRL #46. The current CRL roster does not list #46 so it may have been retired. Hoosier rail fan Dick Barry took this grainy b&w photo of Chicago & West Pullman SW8 #46 which is now in my rr collection.
EMD built Chicago, West Pullman & Southern SW9 #47 (serial #16829) in November of 1952. After working CWP for nearly 29 years, it was sold to the Bayou Steel Company as their #47. Hoosier rail fan Dick Barry took this grainy b&w photo of Chicago & West Pullman SW9 #47 which is now in my rr collection.
EMD built this SW1 switcher in May of 1953 originally as Chicago & North Western #1273 (serial #18105). It was retired by the CNW on November 10, 1977 and sold to Wilson-Cramer Locomotives who then resold it to CWP as their #39. Later it was sold again to Hollis & Eastern RR as their #39. It was still on the active list in 2010 but the HE company was taken over by the Stillwater Central in 2010. Current status of the loco is unknown.
