Description:  FSF. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1963. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8969, a BS-16M road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. Partially visible at the right is Pittsburgh & West Virginia locomotive #40, an AS-616 road switcher constructed by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and leased to the PRR. Photo taken near to the southern end of the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8969, a BS-16M built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, it's shifting some cars just short of the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata. Note the "tell-tales" dancin' in the breeze!

Description:  4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 5 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8114 and #8969. Both are BS-16M's built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #8114 was built as Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad number "40" in May of 1951, leased by the PRR from 1960 through 1962, then purchased by the PRR and renumbered "8114" in 1963, and retired in September of 1967. #8969 was built in June of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. In this context, they're parked near the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower at the end of a busy day.
