A CN through freight passes the former Sherry St. grade crossing and parallels Union St. as it heads south at the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 1 May '19. Train had two locomotives, CN 2874 pulling and CN 2833 mid-train. The historic Neenah Cheese & Cold Storage Co. facility, 434 Sherry St., is partially visible beyond the locomotive. It was built in 1902 after the original 1892 building was destroyed by fire and is currently used for storage. The historic Murer House, 432 Sherry St., is partially visible beyond that. It was built by Felix Murer in 1892 and is currently home to Sherry Town Station. The WC (later SOO) depot stood on the opposite side of Sherry St. from those two buildings; it was built on the north side of Sherry St. on the east side of the tracks in 1891. It replaced the ca. 1881 depot that stood at the west end of Wisconsin Ave. The Sherry St. depot was demolished ca. 1955 when a new depot was built between Main St. and N. Lake St. on the west leg of the wye, about 850 ft. to the northwest. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard here.

CN 2833 heads up a northbound auto train through Waupaca on the elevated former Soo Line/WC main through town
CN unit train of tank cars parallels Broad St. and approaches E. Parkway Ave. (and an awesome relic of the line's historic owner) as it heads north via former C&NW rails at Oshkosh, WI on 9 Dec. '17. I've passed this grade crossing countless times, but never attempted to shoot a train here, so I never noticed the C&NW sign before. I love the interesting and unique ampersand the C&NW occasionally used. I must attempt to catch a train here again when the sign is not backlit. The former C&NW freight house is partially visible in the background (to the left of the newer WC 'No Trespassing' sign).
A CN container train crosses Kampo Rd. (out of frame to right) as it heads northeast via former SOO rails at Neenah, WI on 25 Sep. '17. A remnant of the former C&NW main line is visible background left.
CN through freight parallels Harrison St. as it heads southwest via former SOO rails at Neenah, WI on 27 Aug. '17. A remnant of the C&NW main line is visible at right.
CN mixed freight crosses the junction with the former C&NW right-of-way, now the Wiouwash State Trail, as it speeds northwest via former SOO rails at Medina Junction, WI on 4 Feb. '17.

A CN train speeds along the former Soo Line right of way just north of Oshkosh at Winnebago. Once a corridor for two railroads, now only the CN moves through here. This is part of a trans-con line for the CN to Chicago and beyond.
CN 2833 leads two other units across Snell Road as the train approaches Winnebago on the former Soo Line right of way on the northern outskirts of Oshkosh. In days gone by, Winnebago had rail service to the state hospital located here. The tracks are gone, but the roadbed can still be seen in the farm field.
