UP Huntington Sub.
Ex BC Rail.
Formerly used on Eagle Cap Excurison Train in Northeast Oregon. This is a RDC-3 that originally contained postal and baggage compartments
Along the UP Main Line west of Ontari Oregon at Nelson Or were these 3 RDC Units. One RDC1 and 2 RDC3's I believe are shown here. They belong or used to belong to the WURR. What they be doing out here is anyones guess. But, here they are. BTW, I have seen RDC units before, but these are the first ones I have been able to shoot
Most like the cuprit of the derailment (qeportedly couplet to a tank car). Note the lack of coupler and some body damage.
Caught in a derailment on the UP while in transit from WURR Eagle Cap to the INPR Thunder Mountian line
Through the door and windshield of a delapidated truck
Ex-Lewis and Clark Explorer RDCs and Cotton Belt passenger equipment
the Eagle Cap train parked on the siding...
Since only the passenger train runs here, they can block the main.
I think I allready posted a simmilar shot, but from closer to the RDC's.
The tracks cross the confluince point of two rivers at this spot.
I had never ridden in or behind an RDC, they are much quieter than a locomotive.
A great ride along a clear river.
The flanges were squealing on this on.
Crews walk the train, looking for any problems before we get underway.
crews start the #31 in preparation for the days run.
The WURR used a pair of RDC's for it's smaller trains. On the longer trains, the RDC's are used as cabcars, as they are here.
