From a long time ago. The D&H had some RS 3s rebuilt in the early 70s, repainted 506 for the Bicentennial, and true to D&H form, never got around to painting it back into the lightning stripe the other 7 units were in. This one went to Tioga Central, where it still has this paint job, as far as I know. In 1989, it was at Owego, with a freshly painted coach and S 2. The S 2 is notable also, having been the Buffalo Creek Bicentennial unit, their 46-see comment below.
BUOI waits at signal 236-2 in Owego for MEBU. It will then cross over and run wrong main to Binghamton, due to trackwork between the two points. Note the Tioga Central power in their yard to the right of the lead unit.

The train stopped at the station in Newark Valley, where the museum was open for visitors to see the model layout and pick up some goodies.
The start of the trip was a backing move down to end of track at Goodrich Scttlement, as far as you can go post Conrail. The train has made its short reverse move and photo stop, and is now headed to Harford. Here we pass the yard, with the photo freight behind #14 waiting for us to clear. It will follow us north.

The photo freight did a runby near Flemingville with S 2 14, which performed as expacted-lots of smoke. It was quite a sound, too, with the chug of that old 539 and the whistle of the turbo.
There were a number of wood trestles on the line dating back to LV dayq. We posed the freight on this one crossing Owego Creek south of Flemingville

The Southern Tier Division RRE held a railfan day on the Tioga Central on May 2 1992. It featured a night session, coordinated by Kermit Geary Jr, who brought his Lumedyne set up. A number of views were posed. This one is of S 2 #14 with a hopper and caboose, near the Owego station
Tioga Central 14 switches its train at Berkshire NY during the Southern Tier RRE sponsored fantrip in May 1992. The weather was typical for the tier-it rained all day, but it did make for a dramatic night session later on.
