Freight Train on the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast line
Yesterday's Conrail SA-31 ran into trouble in downtown Farmingdale, NJ. halfway through her trip to Lakewood, NJ. A derailment put 5 or 6 cars on the ground at the Central Ave grade crossing. The locomotives made it safely across before things became ugly...
The conductor on today's Conrail weekly Southern Secondary wayfreight SA-31 climbs aboard after dodging traffic while protecting the Shrewsbury Ave crossing
With the fusees perfectly placed in each lane, the conductor on this week's CSAO SA-31 flags down his ride for the 20 mile trip to Lakewood, NJ, on the ex-CNJ Southern Division Main
A total smoke show today, as the very talented conductor on the weekly Conrail SA-31 will place the currently in-flight fusee right beside the one on the ground. Now that's talent...
The grade crossing protection is out of service today at Shrewsbury Ave, so the CSAO SA-31 conductor heads out to throw a few fusees while avoiding traffic

Interesting bedfellows; an ex-B&O unit leads an ex-CR unit at the Jersey Shore today. Normally a nocturnal return, yesterday's Conrail SA-31 sat overnight in Lakewood, allowing a somewhat rare Friday northbound trip back to Browns Yard in Sayreville, NJ, just minutes after a large thunderstorm hit this area.
