"Kate Shelly" New Years Eve 1965  Contributor's Pick!
C&NW's Kate Shelly 400 had just come in from Chicago on New Years Eve, 1965. She had a dinner lounge car, closed on Saturdays and Holidays, and coaches. She certainly did not run the 400 miles her name implies. Her run was 138 miles. One of the head-end crew had just climbed out of the cab and left his grip on the platform. His swinging lantern can be see across the pilot.
