NYSW 120 takes Staten Island Railway RV1 east.  Contributor's Pick!
SW9 120 was a former C&O unit, picked up by the NYSW when they took over SIRY service. B&O had let it go in April 1985 when they were cut off from their connection by Conrail. Suzy-Q ran the service until about 1991. NYSW #120 was delivered to the C&O 1952/53 and had friction bearing trucks that restricted it to 25 mph. It is now the American Motive Power Inc (AMPI) shop switcher in Dansville NY.

Richard Bischoff General Back in the day of B&O/Chessie operations on Staten Island, switchers like this would charge through (when they weren't stopping to switch Terminal Lumber or Cross Siclare) at every bit of the 49mph federal maximum as they made a run at the ruling grade for the SIR north shore line, the rise from the open cut onto the concrete viaduct between Elm Park and Port Richmond. Track that hadn't seen maintenance since the early 1950s when commuter service ended and friction bearing be d*mned! 1/19/2023 4:11:08 PM
Jacob Bouchard General I believe you are mistaken, no where says that is was an ex B&O locomotive. It is actually an ex C&O locomotive. a 8/3/2023 5:30:31 PM
