Things I didn't think I'd say, when I rode these to high school FIFTY YEARS AGO: Who knew these cars would still be in service 50 years-well not quite, they were delivered starting 1975-after they were the mainstays of the E and F trains back then. The A line was still using R 10's, though they'd shortly be displaced for R 40's and R 42's as the R 46's bumped them from the E and F. These have had at least one rebuild, back in the early 90's. I used to see them going to Hornell on OIBU pretty routinely. This station has had a serious rebuild since I was last there, which was probably around 1980. It was 159th Av/Howard Beach in those days.
