LIRR "Present-Day Roster," Page 25, 1963
Here is page one of a three-page article by Sy Reich entitled "Long Island Rail Road: Present-Day Roster." It was published originally in the April 1963 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 25. Photo Caption: "Sixteen-hundred Alco horses pant briefly at LIRR's Cold Spring Harbor station before climbing the grade to Huntingdon." Photo by Gene Collors. Prominent here is LIRR engine #1552, an AGP-16MSC built by the American Locomotive Company in September of 1955 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. (NOTE: There's a typographical error in the "Diesel Locomotives" table: the Railroad Class for the 1600 HP Alco RS-3 should be "AGP-16msc," not "AGP-15msc.")
