Eastbound passenger train passes historic and picturesque Mainberg Castle (built c:900-1200AD) on the Main River about 4km east of Schweinfurt on the line to Bamberg. Deutsche Bundesbahn commenced electrification of the line in 1970 (hence the unsightly pole) and the catenary went up prior to my departure in 1972. |
