The AEM-7 was still under construction, so a model was put on display in South Station. At the time, South Station did not have overhead catenary for electric train operations. This wouldn't start until 2000. Unfortunately, the real 900 would never visit Boston as it was destroyed in the deadly 1987 Chase, MD accident. Ralph L. Phillips photo, from the Ralph L. Phillips collection of the Bay State Model Railroad Museum. |
