| NC1 is 1 of 2 narrow gauge 3'6" (1067mm) locomotives built by Clyde Engineering in Granville NSW for the Lakewood Firewood Company in 1956 and later sold to the Commonwealth Railways in 1965. They are 25'2" (7.67m) long. Maximum speed 37mph or 60km/h, powered by a GM 6/110 2 stroke diesel engine coupled to an Allison CRT5630 hydraulic transmission. They could operate in multiple unit and had air locomotive brakes with vacuum train brakes. |
