MNN GP #1463 - Minnesota Northern
Minnesota Northern GP9 #1463 sits in front of a short line of locos at the Otter Tail Valley RR engine house in Fergus Falls. With it is sister line Otter Tail Valley GP18 #181 and Minnesota Northern GP9 #1483. Originally built by EMD as Nickel Plate GP9 #533, it was merged into the N&W roster as #2533. It was later sold sometime in the mid-1980's to Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern as their #1463. Finally it ended up on the Minnesota Northern line sometime in early 2000. Note the identical patriotic paint scheme used for both the Minnesota Northern and the Otter Tail Valley at this date. Eric Berg photo.

Eric Reinert General Only just today learned the Southern added the high short hoods on all of the "original Norfolk Southern" low-hood GP-18's like on 181 here. That's wild. 10/27/2022 3:11:47 PM
