Date cannot be correct. 844 delivered new to Omaha December 25, 1944. The "smoke lifter" or "elephant ears" or "wind wing" test program did not commence until Sp0ring of 1945, until test program complete only engine 840 was fitted. Photo is likely Summer 1945.
