Old Reliables on Standby
Caltrain F40PHs idle at San Jose Diridon in mid April. The two venerable units, the 906 and 909, have operated on the Peninsula Commute for almost 40 years, having been built in 1985 by EMD. The 909 has just arrived on train #410 southbound, while 906 will soon depart on train #413 northbound. Note that 906 is operating with a set of Caltrains Bombardier Bi-Level coaches, while 909 is running with the older Nippon-Sharyo gallery cars.
