PRR 9766, EF-15A, c. 1953
AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9766 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EF-15's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9766 was constructed in January of 1951. In this context, this A-B-B-A set is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train down the Allegheny Mountains, and is about to round the Curve on its way to Altoona and points East. ("PrrFan18n")
