PRR 9745, BF-16, c. 1953
Mann. Here is an original photo that was taken at the Passenger Station in Mount Union, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9745 and a "BF" Class B-unit whose road number is not recorded. #9745 is a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in February of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B set is rockin' 'n' rollin' through the Station with a mixed-cargo freight train bound for Altoona and points West. Note the mail pick-up device at the far right. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded. (Gift from Brad Mann.)
