PRR 9535, EF-15, 1960
Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, on 17 October 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9535 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9535 is an EF-15 constructed in September of 1948 and retired in December of 1966 after just 18 years of service. In this context, they're heading West to Altoona. ("PrrFan18n")
