| Q647 (Chicago, IL Clearing Yard - Waycross, GA) is about to enter the north portal of the Cumberland Mountain Tunnel south of Cowan. The stone arch bridge in the foreground once carried the Tracy City Branch over the main line. This location was often used for publicity shots by the N.C.&St.L. and L & N (the last one that I know of being for a Family Lines calendar in the late 1970's). The Tracy City Branch was abandoned in 1985. |
