Built by Alco in November of 1950, the loco was used primarily in freight service although was pulled into passenger service in rare emergencies. Specs - serial #78277, original class DF5 but reclassified as AF16, Alco #244 prime mover, turbocharged, 16000 hp. The loco was traded into Alco in 1965-66 for a C628 order.
