Fine example of the "cobra hooded" 2-8-4 Berkshire built by Lima in May of 1928. The "hood" was a curving feedwater heater that gave the loco a unique look. Specs - serial #7281, T-1a class, 63" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 406,900 lb, tractive effort of 66,640 lb. B&M sold this loco and six other class members to ATSF in 1945. This loco was renumbered ATSF 4794 and lasted until late 1949 before being scrapped. Unknown photographer |
