A Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train heads north in Rochelle, Illinois, June 29, 2004. It is led by “Whiteface” BNSF GP39E #2765 and GP38 #2142. Both engines are still in Burlington Northern colors. This train is running on old BN trackage. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation was created September 22, 1995 as the holding company. Burlington Northern Railroad acquired the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The official merging of both railroads was December 31, 1996.
