PRR 4249, I-1SA, 1956         
Kern. Here is the first of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by Fred Kern that were taken near Locust Gap, Pennsylvania, on 12 April 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4249 and #4635. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #4249 was constructed as an I-1S during June of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in May of 1943, and retired in August of 1957. #4635 was built as an I-1S during October of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in July of 1941, and retired in December of 1957.
