Originally the Illinois Central, Baltimore & Ohio and Chicago & Eastern Illinois railroads all crossed at this diamond near the green sign in the photo. Now the lines are Canadian National, CSX and Union Pacific. The former IC "TY" interlocking tower stood on the northwest side of the IC tracks. Built in 1899, it lasted up until October 23, 1992 when it was closed and finally razed in 1994. |
