PRR "Horseshoe Curve," c. 1936         
Here is a postal card entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Main Line Pennsylvania Railroad, near Altoona, Pa." No Postmark. The artist is not identified. Caption On Reverse: "Built in 1852, the Curve, even today, is considered an outstanding engineering feat. Length of curve, 2375 feet; elevation at east end, 1594 feet; grade, 91 feet per mile. Motorists may now reach the curve over State roads, and to see the Pennsy's giant locomotives and long trains climbing up the Allegheny Mountains is well worth the trip."
