Northbound CSX
This northbound CSX train, powered by AC4400CW 320 and C40-8W 7770, was in the siding at St. Elmo, Alabama. At an elevation of about 135 feet, this is the highest point on the CSX between New Orleans and Mobile. Saint Elmo Hill was the only "ruling" grade on the otherwise-flat NO&M Subdivision; its grade is approximately 0.9 percent for about 9 miles in either direction with a few gentle curves. The photo was taken at the Argyle Road grade crossing and the little brick building on the right belonged to AT&T.
