PRR 4462, I-1SA, #2 of 4, 1950
Elmira. Here is the second of four successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Mr. A. Withiam that were taken in Sodus Point, New York, on 16 April 1950. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4462, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during May of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in March of 1942, and retired in August of 1952 after 29 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pushing a string of loaded hoppers into the Sodus Point Car Dumper; their contents are being dumped into the Great Lakes steamer "Valley Camp," pictured at the far right. ("Stoneborobranch"; #5 of 34)
