| GTW 4912 works the north end of the CN, former SOO, yard at Neenah, WI, on 15 May '20. In the background, under the Main St. overpass, a local waits to proceed to Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna. The building at left, 716 Harrison St., still used by Neenah Foundry, I believe, is in the process of being spruced up with a fresh coat of paint and some new doors. Union St. can be seen to the left. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard still here. |
