| One of the historic railroad structures along the Delaware & Hudson mainline was this interlocking tower near the Oneonta Yards at Fonda Avenue. This was the last wooden interlocking tower on the entire D&H System, thus making it a worthy candidate for preservation and restoration. When word came that this structure would be torn down, the Leatherstocking Railway Historical Society stepped in and dismantled the tower with the intent of reassembling it at the Cooperstown Junction Museum. I can't seem to find out whether this tower was actually restored. Does anyone know if it was in restored? The color slide was photographed by Robert A. Newbegin. |
