| A CN unit train of tank cars passes a halted through freight along Union St. at the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 14 Mar. '20. Moving train had three locomotives, CN 3244 and CN 3160 pulling as well as CN 2883 pushing. Halted train had three locomotives CSX 5319, CN 8897, IC 9625. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard still here. The Winneconne Ave. overpass is partially visible in the background. |
