PRR 5805, EP-22, 1959         
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Louisville, Kentucky, on 12 August 1959. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5805 and #5905. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. N.B.: See Warren Evans' explanatory note below. ("Tchowee"; #22 of 29)

warren evans General Great Shot Tom. But in this photo the PRR. 5805 is the 5805. 2nd. Built in 1954. After the 5805 1st. was total in the wreck at Chicagoi Union Station in 3-27-1954 Then was shipped right to emd. Since the E8's were out production and the E9's were in production EMD took an E9 out the production line made for PRR. and derated the horsepower to 2250hp. in 5-28-1954. Thus 5805. 2nd. EP-22. Came about since the frame totally shot also use the some electical gear and main generator from 5805. 1st. Both units 1st. & 2nd had the same serilal Numbers account of the settle the trust which was by law at this time this was changed in 1956. the 5805. 2nd went on to be PC. 4270. EP-22. Ed Cooper General Illinois Central had two E9As on order in the spring of 1954. See EMD order #2062 at http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/19300.htm When IC experienced a wreck in May 1954 a wrecked E6A was quickly traded in to EMD for one of the E9As already on order.
