PRR 5860, EP-20, 1955
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Brick Yard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 July 1955. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5860 and two more E-7's whose numbers are not recorded. All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5860 was built in February of 1948. In this context, this A-B-A set of locomotives is pulling Train #22 down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve and will soon stop at the Altoona Passenger Station on their way to Harrisburg and points East. ("Tchowee"; #12 of 28)
